| WHÂNAU
ORA
Whânau Ora is an inclusive,
Mâori approach that provides services and choice to whânau.
It requires multiple Govt agencies to work together with whânau rather
than separately with individual family members.
Here at Te Kaokao o Takapau,
we provide a ‘wrap around’ Whânau Ora service.
For example, if a koroua
needs assistance, our social worker can ensure he and his whânau
are receiving the entitlements they need from WINZ; we liaise with the
GP and hospital around his health needs and care; our Kaitakawaenga assesses
what disability aids he may need in his home such as a ramp; follow-up
visits are made; health information is provided; transport to clinics,
outpatient visits or doctors appointments are arranged; and he can be included
in our social and recreation programmes.
Whânau Ora is designed
to be flexible to meet family needs.
