The
Tuhoe Matauranga Trust trading as Te Takapau focuses on professional development
for the early childhood and primary school sector.
Te
Takapau is a Maori owned & operated Professional Development initiative,
established for Maori by Maori within the Mataatua region. Te Takapau
facilitates educational, Maori visual art workshops that validate and make
relevant traditional Maori knowledge for educators within the early childhood
and junior school sector.
Te
Takapau have been contracted by Te Kohanga Reo National Trust to develop
Maori medium resources and presented at the World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference
for Education in Hawaii 1999
TheMinistry
Of Education and Te Takapau have initiated joint venture projects this
year with with two accredited providers. In the year 2000;
Te
Takapau will be facilitating workshops on behalf of Maioha - a Waikato
based Early Childhood Professional Development Trainer.
Te
Takapau, with Special Education Service Eastern Bay Of Plenty will deliver
the Special Education 2000 professional development to 25 early childhood
centres throughout the Mataatua Region.
Te
Takapau provides workshops and wananga that promote knowledge and practical
skills to kaiako and whanau within kaupapa Maori and mainstream early childhood
Centres.
