Ngai Tuhoe kawea te kura nui, Ngai Tuhoe Kawea te kura roa
EKE PANUKUis a joint venture between Te Kaokao o Takapau and the Bay of Plenty District Health Board, providing mental health services for Tuhoe youth within Waimana, Taneatua, Ruatoki, Waiohau, Ruatahuna and Waikaremoana. The programme aims to improve the current services available for the mental and emotional well being of our young people aged 13 to 18 years, and their families.

EKE PANUKU describes the momentum of waves and the continuous motion of the sea.
We aim to provide continuous support for our young people so they reach their full potential – mentally, spiritually and physically.

EKE PANUKU will develop their skills, motivation, confidence and learning opportunities – to improve and protect their health.

Our programme will use a range of learning styles tailored towards each student.

TE HIKOIKOI
A 10-week life skills programme for secondary school students.

SUPPORT
Our social worker-advocate will work with individual youth at risk and their whanau.

ACTIVITY PROGRAMMES
Hands-on activities include sports training, touch, waka ama, kapa haka.

EKE PANUKU CAMPS
Every month, we’ll run 3-day supervised camps focusing on the sea, the bush or the mountains.

EKE PANUKU CAMPS
OUR MONTHLY CAMPS  are supervised over the course of 3-days. Our activities are based around cultural knowledge and encouragement in sea skills, bush craft or mountaineering. Our young people will develop their skills, motivation, confidence and learning opportunities – to improve and protect their health.

TE MOANA
Fishing, boating, swimming, gathering kaimoana, water safety and team building.

TE NGAHERE
3-day horse trek through Te Urewera National Park, swimming, fishing, eeling, bush lore, history and team building.

NGA MAUNGA
Skiing, mountain safety, survival skills, treks and team building.

TE KAOKAO O TAKAPAU  provides health and disability services within Te Rohe Potae o Tuhoe including:

* A GP service
* Tamariki Ora
* Youth services for 13 – 18 year olds
* Outreach Immunisation Service
* An early intervention service for Maori children and youth with a disability
* Kaumatua social and recreational activities
* Health promotion
* Paediatric, Diabetes, Continence Services
* Advocacy
* Physiotherapist Clinic
